Plus d’un demi-million de réfugiés ukrainiens ont fui vers des pays frontaliers depuis l’invasion de la Russie jeudi dernier. Ottawa affirme accélérer le processus d’immigration des réfugiés en provenance de l’Ukraine. Certaines provinces de l’Atlantique se disent prêtes à les accueillir. La Nouvelle-Écosse a été la première province de l’Atlantique à annoncer qu’elle accélérait les demandes d’immigration des personnes en provenance de ce pays, vendredi. La province a aussi fait un don de 100 000 $ à la Fondation Canada-Ukraine pour fournir de l’aide humanitaire au peuple ukrainien.
Le Devoir – Québec loin de sa cible pour les réfugiés afghans
Six mois après la crise en Afghanistan, Québec peine à accueillir les 300 réfugiés afghans qu’il s’était engagé à recevoir, a constaté Le Devoir. Selon des chiffres fournis par le ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI), à peine 89 d’entre eux se sont installés au Québec dans le cadre du Programme spécial pour les Afghans qui ont aidé le gouvernement du Canada au mois d’août dernier, alors qu’ils sont plusieurs milliers dans le reste du pays.
