A second plane carrying Ukrainian refugees fleeing war has arrived in Newfoundland and Labrador. The flight, chartered by the provincial government and carrying 177 people and their pets, landed Tuesday night at the St. John’s International Airport after leaving from Poland earlier in the day. “We are really thankful to everybody because everybody helped us. We are so happy that Canada is open for us, for Ukrainians,” Iryna Krasilnikova, travelling with her dog Prince, told reporters minutes after stepping off of the plane.
CBC News – British Government’s 1st Asylum Seeker Deportation Flight To Rwanda Called Off
The British government has grounded its first scheduled flight to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda, under a controversial agreement, according to multiple British media reports. The cancellation of the flight, which was set to carry just seven people to the African nation, followed a last-minute European Court of Human Rights injunction, that followed failed attempts to halt the flight in U.K. courts. The Boeing 767 was due to depart at 10:30 p.m. local time.

Toronto police Chief James Ramer plans to apologize to the city’s Black community, CBC News has learned, as the force prepares to pull back the curtain on data that will reveal the extent to which race has played a role in its use-of-force and strip searches. Two sources with knowledge of the situation said Ramer, Toronto’s interim chief, will make a formal apology at a news conference on Wednesday morning.

Radio-Canada – La province accueille un deuxième vol nolisé transportant des réfugiés ukrainiens
Ce deuxième vol nolisé a décollé de Varsovie, en Pologne, où le gouvernement de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador a établi un bureau, en mars dernier, dans le but d’aider les réfugiés ukrainiens qui le souhaitent à venir s’installer dans la province pour démarrer une nouvelle vie. Le ministre de l’Immigration, Gerry Byrne, était à l’aéroport pour accueillir chaque personne, famille et animal de compagnie. M. Byrne a indiqué qu’avec les 177 personnes arrivées mardi soir, la province avait accueilli 478 réfugiés depuis la première offensive de l’armée russe le 24 février.
A group of 47 newly arrived immigrants to Canada, mainly from Ukraine, were introduced to Norfolk County through a Rural Employment Initiative bus tour Tuesday. Organized by Norfolk County in collaboration with Newcomer Centre of Peel and Venture Norfolk, the tour bus departed Mississauga at 8 a.m. for Venture Norfolk in Simcoe.
