Tetiana Kitsynenko was forced from her home in Ukraine following the start of the Russian invasion in February, 2022. Not knowing anything about her new home country or what opportunities were available to her, Kitsynenko said she learned of a program provided by the Ottawa Mission training society’s most vulnerable in the art of food service. The Food Services Training program is a full-time four month job training programming giving participants the necessary skills to work in a commercial kitchen.

A Federal Court judge has described as “unintelligible” a Canadian visa officer’s rejection of a B.C. study permit for an Iranian master’s student because she failed to produce her grades. Saba Ahadi applied for a study permit in January 2022 after being accepted to the master of business administration program at the University of Canada West (UCW) in Vancouver, B.C. Ahadi also applied for a temporary resident visa for her five-year-old daughter, whom she intended to bring with her while her husband remained in Iran.

A London man is raising money to help bring a refugee family from Canada to Afghanistan. The London Refugee Sponsorship Program received a $100 thousand dollar loan from First St. Andrews Church to bring the family of six adults to London, but now they have to pay it off by the end of 2023. Each made putt length at Saturday’s event added up, aiming for a mile in total.
