Le programme des travailleurs étrangers temporaires est en forte expansion au Québec. Leur nombre dans des postes à bas salaire et en agriculture a triplé depuis 2015. Notre analyse montre qu’en un an, entre octobre 2021 et la fin septembre 2022, ce sont près de 7000 entreprises au Québec qui ont demandé l’embauche de ce type de main-d’oeuvre. Plus de 20 000 demandes d’approbation concernaient des postes d’ouvriers agricoles. La majorité des requêtes proviennent encore de ce milieu, mais de plus en plus d’affichages émanent d’ailleurs.

En 2022, plus de 16 300 immigrants francophones se sont installés à l’extérieur du Québec. Cela représente 4,4 % des immigrants hors Québec et permet au pays d’atteindre pour la première fois la cible qu’il s’est fixée. L’augmentation du nombre d’immigrants francophones qui choisissent de s’installer à l’extérieur du Québec est importante.En 2006, on comptait 2800 admissions d’immigrants francophones à l’extérieur du Québec, ce qui représentait seulement 1,38 % des personnes admises.

The United States is introducing a new private refugee sponsorship program that’s based on a similar system in Canada. State Department officials say the Canadian model helped inspire and inform the design and implementation of the U.S. program, known as the Welcome Corps. The U.S. describes the program, which will allow ordinary Americans to privately sponsor refugees, as the boldest innovation in refugee resettlement in four decades.
Globe and Mail – Mayors Call on Federal Government, Ontario to Fund Ukrainian Newcomers’ Resettlement Efforts
The municipal leaders say in a joint statement that almost 2,000 people from 750 households have accessed emergency housing and other services through a project to co-ordinate efforts to support Ukrainian newcomers. They say the governments of Canada and Ontario had assured them that support for Ukrainian newcomers was coming but dedicated funding sought by the municipalities has yet to arrive.
