Le premier ministre Justin Trudeau a réitéré lundi l’importance d’avoir un système d’immigration « ordonné », dans la foulée de la mort de huit migrants, incluant deux enfants, dont les corps ont été retrouvés la semaine dernière dans les eaux du fleuve Saint-Laurent à Akwesasne. En mars, le Canada a renégocié avec les États-Unis l’Entente sur les tiers pays sûrs, afin qu’elle s’applique à toute la frontière canado-américaine. L’objectif était ainsi de refouler les migrants qui passaient par des voies irrégulières comme le chemin Roxham.
