Le gouvernement de Justin Trudeau envisage de recourir aux bases militaires comme Valcartier ou Trenton pour héberger les 25 000 réfugiés attendus d’ici la fin de l’année. Selon ce que Le Devoir a appris, un scénario à l’étude prévoit l’arrivée de pas moins de 6000 réfugiés par semaine. Des bases militaires de partout au Canada pourraient être mises à contribution, notamment au Québec.
La base des Forces canadiennes Valcartier pourrait accueillir temporairement une partie des 25 000 réfugiés syriens que le gouvernement de Justin Trudeau compte faire venir au pays d’ici la fin de l’année. Valcartier représente un endroit privilégié avec un secteur résidentiel comptant plus de 750 logements. La base, une des mieux nantis au Canada, compte également un hôpital, un centre sportif, un centre communautaire et un centre d’achat.

Canada’s new Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has promised change, and that includes new names for some key government departments. According to the Privy Council Office, the changes were made to “reflect the government’s priorities.” Citizenship and Immigration Canada is now called Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, in a likely bid to emphasize Trudeau’s pledge to resettle 25,000 Syrian refugees.
