Reuters Canada – Greece Mounts Late Push to Assure EU Before Migration Summit

In a last-minute drive to assure European Union partners that it is getting to grips with a mass influx of refugees, Greece released aerial photographs on Tuesday of new registration centers for migrants on its northern Aegean islands. The move is part of Athens’ efforts, ahead of an EU summit starting on Thursday, to rebuff criticism by Germany and other EU governments that it has done too little to manage the flow of hundreds of thousands of people arriving on its shores.

An ESL program at the Toronto District School Board could soon find itself helping thousands of refugee children from Syria learn English as they build their new lives in the GTA. The Hamilton Spectator – Mac Grad Students Trying to Solve Immigration Integration

Engineers are trained to solve countless problems, but immigration integration is usually not among them. That’s exactly what three international students from India who are taking their engineering master’s degree at McMaster University are hoping to do through a project drawing from their experiences immigrating to Canada. Transportation, accommodation, language barriers, paperwork, SIN numbers, drivers’ licences and banking can all be a confusing mess for immigrants, said project member Hashmeen Bains, who came to Canada at the beginning of this semester.
