Les fraudeurs ne manquent pas d’idées pour flouer leurs victimes. Certains d’entre eux repoussent les limites de l’insensibilité en ciblant notamment des réfugiés récemment arrivés au Canada. Les autorités ont été informées de la situation par des immigrants ayant été contactés par des escrocs, mais qui n’ont heureusement pas mordu à l’hameçon.

Denmark has introduced temporary controls along its border with Germany, just hours after Sweden took similar measures to check the flow of refugees. Sweden began checking documents of travellers from Denmark on Monday for the first time in half a century, causing delays of trains and frustration among travellers.

Rail commuters heading to Sweden will now have to change trains at Copenhagen Airport and go through ID checkpoints. Sweden received more than 150,000 asylum applications in 2015. An estimated 20,000 commuters daily cross the Oresund bridge, which connects the Swedish cities of Malmo and Lund with the Danish capital, Copenhagen.
The Liberal government says it won’t fight to preserve Conservative government rule changes that made it impossible for some rejected refugee claimants to pursue appeals. A Federal Court ruled in July that it was unconstitutional for the Conservatives to strip the right of appeal for refugee applicants from a list of countries the government deemed to be “safe.”
Governor General David Johnston said Canada’s response to the Syrian refugee crisis has been overwhelmingly positive, calling it an example of the power of widespread collaboration. Various stakeholders – from governments and religious organizations to large corporations and even individuals – have come together to help get 25,000 Syrians into Canada by the end of February, Johnston told The West Block’s Tom Clark, likening the process to an age-old tradition in agricultural communities.
