Poland’s prime minister says his country is no longer prepared to take the 7,000 refugees it agreed to accept in negotiations with the European Union because of the deadly Brussels attacks. Beata Szydlo said on Wednesday that she does “not see any possibility for the refugees to come to Poland” after explosions rocked the Belgian capital a day earlier, according to Polish broadcaster Superstacja.
Last month, the teachers’ union invited trustees, the district parent advisory council and local immigrant rights activist Harsha Walia to a meeting to discuss a possible so-called “sanctuary schools” policy. “What was identified is that, although there was no instances of staff being aware that any student has been turned away, the concern was that’s because parents aren’t sending them in the first place to register because of the fear of being discovered with less than legal status,” said trustee Gary Wong, chair of the board’s policy committee.

A triple blow has been dealt to the EU-Turkey migration deal after five leading aid groups refused to work with Brussels on its implementation, a Turkish diplomat ruled out changing Turkish legislation to make the deal more palatable to rights campaigners, and a senior Greek official said nobody knew how the agreement was supposed to work. […] UNHCR was later joined by Médecins Sans Frontières, the International Rescue Committee, the Norwegian Refugee Council and Save the Children. All five said they did not want to be involved in the blanket expulsion of refugees because it contravened international law.
The United Nations refugee agency dealt a blow to EU efforts to stem the biggest humanitarian crisis in generations on Tuesday, saying it would no longer assist in the transfer of migrants and refugees arriving in Greece to “detention centers.” The European Union reached a deal with Turkey just four days ago aimed at halting the flow of migrants across the sea to Greece, but the UNHCR said the deal was being prematurely implemented without the required safeguards in place.

Ce nouveau volet, qui vise à attirer des travailleurs qualifiés francophones et à les encourager à s’établir dans les collectivités à l’extérieur du Québec[…].
Le 12 mars dernier, les Prince-Édouardiens étaient invité à se joindre au premier ministre de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard Wade MacLauchlan et au comité consultatif ministériel sur les réfugiés pour accueillir les plus récents groupes de nouveaux résidents, surtout composé de réfugiés syriens.
