660 News – Immigration Minister: Ottawa Paying “Lion’s Share” for Syrian Refugees

Immigration Minister John McCallum denies allegations made by the Opposition that the federal government doesn’t have a plan to deal with the influx of Syrian refugees. […] “Of course there’s a plan to pay for it,” he laughed. “We put out, we budgeted close to $700 Million to pay for it and most of that money is out of the door and the provinces are also working with us. We are paying the lion’s share of the money and for the government-assisted refugees we provide income support for a year, we help them find housing, we teach them English or French, but of course we’re paying.”
