La violence policière, ou brutalité policière, caractérise l’action violente conduite par des policiers envers des personnes qui ne sont pas des policiers. Qu’en est-il quand la violence policière est commandée par le gouvernement ? Parle-t-on de bavures policières?
Although both Canada and the U.S. have eliminated many grounds of exclusion that relate specifically to disabling conditions, large numbers of potential immigrants with disabilities find themselves disqualified because of speculation they will absorb too much medical or social support. A report is now available on the results of a survey of local businesses conducted in February of this year to capture information on how immigrants are participating in the Chilliwack economy. A refugee lawyer is accusing the Canada Border Services Agency of transferring sick and mentally ill immigration detainees to provincial jails for medical care and he is calling for the alleged practice to stop because he says prisons are not appropriate places for treatment. […] Dr. Michaela Beder, a psychiatrist at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, also told Metro Morning that she thinks the alleged CBSA practice of placing detainees with health problems in jails is “absolutely horrifying.” She said detainees need to be transferred to hospitals for proper medical care.
