Il y a ceux qui défendent « le paysan de la Roya » et ceux qui fustigent son action auprès des migrants. Autour de l’emblématique Cédric Herrou, qui héberge des Africains qui ont traversé à pied la frontière italienne, se dessinent plusieurs France. Celle qui estime, à l’instar par exemple d’un Arnaud Montebourg, qu’il ne devrait pas être poursuivi pour avoir aidé des migrants.

CBC – UPEI Students Refurbish, Donate Computers to Newcomers

A group of UPEI students have decided to pay it forward by refurbishing donated computers, and donating them to the PEI Association for Newcomers. […] Craig Mackie, executive director at the P.E.I. Association for Newcomers, said the donation was a welcome surprise.”We know there are still refugee families moving here, who could use that kind of access to the internet,” said Mackie. Mackie also said refugees rely on computers and internet access to contact family back home.

Dunia Almelhm is currently a student at Montreal’s Concordia University, dreaming of becoming a doctor. But, unlike most of her classmates, Dunia’s path to college started far away, in war-torn Syria and then as a refugee. […] Dunia’s Montreal-based tutor Marwa Khobieh, a project coordinator at the Syrian Kids Foundation, realized the lack of resources for aspiring students. […] In 2015, Khobieh mobilized volunteers in Canada to provide English tutoring sessions via web chat, aiding the aspiring college students in their English proficiency exams.

CBC – One Year Later: Syrian Newcomer Students Adjust to Life at School

In January 2016, teachers in Saint John were grappling with an uncertain situation. As dozens of Syrian families and their children arrived in the region, their educational needs weren’t clear. […] Younger students tend to adjust more quickly to the Canadian school system than some of their older peers. […] The challenges are more apparent for the 45 high-school age Syrian students recently arrived in the region. Some new students had been out of school for up to six or seven years before arriving in Canada.
